Red Gorge, Karijini National Park_0471

            Karijini National Park is an extensive wilderness area in the Hamersley Range of Western Australia. The high plateau is dissected by spectacular gorges where erosion has carved the landscape out of rocks that are over 2.5 billion years old. The view here is from the Oxer Lookout which offers a stunning view of Red Gorge and Junction Pool—so-called because it sits at the junction of four major gorges, namely the Weano, Joffre, Hancock and Red.

The group assembled at the bottom of the gorge are part of a guided tour under the auspices of Active Adventure Tours, a Karijini-based organisation that is certified to operate   canyoning, abseiling, climbing and hiking tours within the park and is licensed to provide access to the technically demanding class 6 areas that are off limits to the general public for safety reasons.
