Ellery Creek Big Hole, late afternoon_img 0107

            The ancient, weather-beaten West MacDonnell Ranges are host to a string of spectacular gaps and gorges stretching 160km from Alice Springs in the east to Mount Sonder and Redbank Gorge in the west.

 Just under 90km from Alice Springs on Namatjira Drive, Ellery Creek Big Hole is exactly that: a large and strikingly beautiful waterhole in the mighty Ellery Creek which cuts through a gorge in the West MacDonnell Ranges and is a tributary to the Finke River.
