Tropical Storm Gordon - Gulf Islands National Seashore (B&W)

            On our last full day at Pensacola Beach, Tropical Storm Gordon began to move on shore and caused all beaches to close and display a double red flag condition.  We drove to Navarre Beach via Highway 98 and back to Pensacola Beach via Highway 399 within the Gulf Islands National Seashore (this road closed at 4pm due to the approaching storm).  Along this drive, this was the scene everywhere we could see out to the water...major storm clouds, a lot of wind, rain (as you can see from the drops on my lens), and the biggest waves I've ever seen in the Gulf of Mexico (I heard they got up to 8-9 feet).  While I was experiencing some excitement to be seeing the effects of a tropical storm (just shy of a category 1 hurricane) first hand, my wife was not quite as thrilled.  It was a very intimidating experience...
