            Working trackside 1970’s style.

It is the 7th March 1978 and myself and colleague Mr Adrian Mather have a day out from the Nottingham Division S&T Drawing Office at Furlong House, Nottingham and are paying a visit to Desford Colliery Sidings. Track assess was arranged by a quick phone call to the local Maintenance Supervisor the day before to let him know we would be out on his patch and a word with the Desford Colliery Sidings Signal Box signalman when we arrived. Not one bit of paper produced. Note also the large amount of PPE worn by Adrian. Also I note my trusty Adidas black bag in the left background. Standard kit for any young lad of the 1970’s. I have known Adrian for over forty years, he is still working in Signalling Design and I see him regularly
