47826 brings up the rear of a steam charter to Kings Cross hauled by 6233 Duchess of Sutherland at Saxondale, 18th October 2008.

Locomotive History
47826 was delivered from Crewe works to Haymarket MPD as D1976 in November 1965. It remained at Haymarket for the next twenty one years becoming 47274 in September 1974. On the 15th March 1976 47274 working 1S06, 20:55, Euston Stranraer was in collision with a lorry which had crashed through the bridge parapet at Dornock (between Carlisle and Dumfries). The driver, secondman and lorry driver were all killed. In January 1986 during a heavy general repair at Crewe works its steam heating boiler was replaced with a Brush BL100-30 alternator in order to provide electric train heating and it emerged as 47637. In May 1986 it transferred north to Inverness returning south to Eastfield a year later in May 1987. It finally left Scotland in November 1987 transferring to Old Oak Common, moving on to Crewe six months later. It became 47826 in May 1989 when fitted with extended fuel tanks and transferred to Bristol. Its next move was back to Crewe in June 1995 followed by Toton in April 1998 and finally Willesden in September 2002. In May 2005 it was sold to West Coast Railway Company for use on charter trains and is currently (August 2012) operational.
