            Having discharged its load of around 180 seaside day trippers at Barry Island 150252 (120 seats) prepares to depart with the late running 12:40, Barry Island – Aberdare service, 17th April 2010. Barry Island station is like a lot of today’s railway a shadow of its former glory and is basically a single platform at the end of a short single line from Barry station. In my youth in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s Barry Island was quite a sizable station and would be in the summer a regular destination for locomotive hauled excursion trains as well as stabling local DMU’s between duties. Most of the original Island railway site is now part of the Barry Island Tourist Railway. 

Unit History
150252 was initially allocated to Neville Hill and this was followed by fourteen years allocated to Haymarket for Fife circle suburban duties until transferred to Cardiff for Arriva Trains Wales duties in May 2005.
