Extension to Coventry Council House - a photo on Flickriver

            Another view of the quirky, brick elephant whose trunk reaches across the road to the main Council House. 

Other cities may have chosen to commission a building that was closer in design to the Tudor styled (although from 1914) Council House, but not Coventry.

It's another of the city's eclectic and ever-interesting collection of architecture, that ranges from wooden-framed town-houses, via mid-century modernism like this, to modern glass boxes.

Designed by Rex Chell and completed 1976.
