Shanklin. Isle of Wight - a photo on Flickriver

            The Isle of Wight is a lovely place to visit and Shanklin is a beautiful small town. Shanklin is on Sandown Bay and it is where PLUTO "Pipe Line Under The Ocean" started. The pipe line went from Shanklin to Normandy to carry fuel for the allied armies following D-Day in 1944. The Romans named the island Vectis.
