Erik came to Madison with who he thought was a very special lady, as she made the trip to Arkansas to pick him up and bring him back. Nearly 11 hours worth of travel and after a few days spending time at casinos in the area; Erik was abruptly awoke one morning by said girl. She expressed that she didn't have the time (as she works 5 p.m. until 3 a.m.) and that she didn't feel ready for a relationship. But instead of helping him find his way back to Arkansas, she dropped him off at the homeless shelter off the square.

So today the first step in making it back home was taken, vending the Street Pulse to the people of Madison. His goal is to reach out and sell enough papers to buy a bus ticket back home, and then his time here will be finished. He was very gracious to allow me to take his picture for inclusion in my 100 more strangers project. As I express to those peddling the paper, my picture is meant to be a free advertisement for them as well as the paper. So if you see Erik be sure to donate, it's only a dollar and really it goes to his cause. I hope that in the coming weeks he can save his money and get back home.
