Linville Falls - Explored #242 - a photo on Flickriver

            So what do you do when it's going to be 93 degrees at home ..... you betcha, head up to the Blue Ridge Parkway.  My original plan was to hike up Hawksbill Mountain.  Once near there I saw the temp was already 82 and sunny so I nixed that idea.

I ended up driving to Linville Falls.  It was very sunny, windy and surprisingly warm.  This is the view from an observation area above the falls.  The sunny harsh light was not going to allow for any good photos so I was about to pack it in.  But then a large cloud blocked the sun and it wasn't too bad then.  I set up my camera and was ready to shoot but the clouds were infrequent and fast moving so getting a shot needed to be done quickly.

I managed to get a 10 sec. exposure using a 6-stop ND filter.  I also shot it at 1/400th of a sec to freeze the blowing trees.  Blended in photoshop to try to combine the best areas of each photo.  The result came out OK but you can tell it was very bright.  Nonetheless, it was great to escape the heat for a while.
