Lost in 2020 - a photo on Flickriver

Lost in 2020

            As this year draws to a close I've decided to post a merge photo of several locos no longer active at the end of 2020. Unfortunately I wasnt able to photograph the AGA 90s, IOW 483s or Northern Pacers one final time but did manage a few of the others.

Top Left;
East Midlands Railway finally dispensed with its remaining Paxman VP185 engines on December 11th, with 43047 and 43049 bringing down the curtain. 43048 managed as far as September 12th although its future is secure in preservation with the 125 Group. The final day for the Porterbrook coaching stock seen here will be December 31st

Top Right;
Not quite as Iconic as the Intercity 125, nevertheless lots of enthusiasts came out of the woodwork in 2020 to say farewell to the humble Pacer. Northern said goodbye to the last 142s on November 27th, regular services for GWR finished on December 12th with 143621 featuring that day. A Limited number of 143s will continue into 2021 with TfW

Bottom Right;
How on Earth the Class 86 managed to even make it as far as 2020 is a testiment to what a great locomotive it was. I say "was" but as 2021 starts there are still 7 locos active of which 86638 is one. 86614 worked for the final time late on September 28th though

Bottom Left;
The 'Electra' Class 91s havnt enjoyed the length of service the 86s have but as a very specifically designed loco for ECML Express traffic it has taken 30 years for it to be superceded by anything else. The remaining 11 loco's will be stood down on January 14th (9 of which should return next year after overhaul). 91126 only made it to June 23rd before working for the final time
