Port Profile -US Revenue Cutter DALLAS c.1816, Surprise Class -Rex Stewart

            This profile gives a more definitive view of Doughty's cutter design. So not to confuse the viewer or builder, the model is scaled exactly at 1/4" = 1'. The receding part of the boom at the lower mast stem is precisely six feet from the deck floor. The average height of a crew member was between 5' - 5' 10" which gives the sailor safe clearance for manuevering  around the boom, especially in foul weather.

From this part of the boom measurement, it was easy to configure all aspects of the deck furniture, including the principle details such as the launch, capstan, carronade, cabin, and tiller.

The rails are at the regulation height of 40" inches which clear the ropes when the carronade is fired.
