La strada nazionale Transfăgărăşan - The national route Transfăgărăşan - Drumul Naţional Transfăgărăşan (România)

            La Transfăgărăşan è una strada nazionale rumena che collega le regioni storiche della Transilvania e della Valacchia e le città di Sibiu e Piteşti.
Il suo nome significa "al di là di Făgăraş" ed è la seconda strada costruita in altitudine ed asfaltata dell'intera Romania.
Essa attraversa le parti più alte dei Carpazi Meridionali tra la vetta più alta del paese, il Moldoveanu e la seconda più alta, il Negoiu.
Costruita tra il 1970 ed il 1974 sotto il regime dittatoriale di Ceauşescu essa fu ideata come risposta alla invasione della Cecoslovacchia dall'Unione Sovietica per assicurare un veloce movimento di truppe all'interno della Romania.
La strada sale a 2034 metri di altitudine ed è assolutamente spettacolare per i precipizi al bordo della strada e per le curve ed i tornanti che si incontrano nel suo percorso.
Da qualche tempo è frequentata da motociclisti e ciclisti di tutto il mondo per le sue ineguagliabili discese. Io la ho percorsa una decina di volte ed è un evento assolutamente emozionante anche per un automobilista esperto.

The Transfăgărăşan is a Romanian national route that connects the historic regions of Transylvania and Wallachia and the city of Pitesti and Sibiu.
Its name means "beyond Făgăraş" and is the second paved road built in altitude and the whole Romania.
It crosses the highest parts of the Southern Carpathians between the country's highest peak Moldoveanu and the second highest, the Negoiu.
Built between 1970 and 1974 under the dictatorship of Ceausescu it was conceived as a response to the invasion of Czechoslovakia by the Soviet Union to ensure fast movement of troops in Romania.
The road climbs to 2034 meters above sea level and is absolutely spectacular for the cliffs at the edge of the road and the curves and bends that are encountered in its path.
For some time it is frequented by motorcyclists and cyclists from all over the world for its unique downhill. I drove in it for a dozen of times and is a very exciting event also for a expert driver.
