La cappella ed il carabiniere - The chapel and the carabineer (Tuscany, Italy)

            Questa raffigurata nella foto è la cappella Piero Nerli a Quinciano, comune di Monteroni d'Arbia (SI). La cappella venne eretta dal Conte Ferdinando Piero Nerli che ne affidò il progetto all'architetto Giulio Rossi, opera terminata nel 1861, dopo la morte dell'architetto, da Giuseppe Partini. Essa rappresenta l'epilogo della cultura purista senese della seconda metà dell'Ottocento. Il monumento è a pianta ottagonale con volta a crociera e con pareti in mattoni; le finestre sono circolari. Nel soffitto della volta Cesare Maccari ha dipinto un affresco rappresentante i Quattro Evangelisti. Nelle pareti dell'interno sono dipinte le Virtù cardinali da Alessandro Franchi.

This photo represent the chapel of Piero Nerli in Quinciano, municipality of Monteroni d'Arbia (Siena). The chapel was built by Count Ferdinando Piero Nerli who assigned the project to the architect Giulio Rossi, ended in 1861, after the death of the architect, from Giuseppe Partini. It represents the culmination of the sienese purist culture in the second half of the nineteenth century. The monument is octagonal with a cross vault and brick walls; windows are circular. In the ceiling of the vault Cesare Maccari painted a fresco depicting the Four Evangelists. The interior walls are painted the Cardinal Virtues by Alessandro Franchi.
