Pfeiffer Sparks (Big Sur, California)

            ***Giving this a rare "bump" to the front of my stream to announce that this image has been chosen as the first-place winner in the landscape category for the prestigious ICPAs (International Conservation Photography Awards).  I'm over the moon & just so honored that this was chosen, and I hope to see some of you up in Seattle at the end of June, when the exhibition at the Burke opens!

Just a little shot taken while hanging out with 30 of my closest friends--actually, I only knew one other person there, but lordy what a crowd this place draws this time of year, when conditions are right for the setting sun to shine through the portal in the big rock arch at Pfeiffer Beach.  I would've been happier with the shot if the tide had been just a *little* higher--the lack of water meant very little mist to highlight the light beam, but I did get some nice spray lit up by the light.
