Rockies rill - a photo on Flickriver

Rockies rill

            I still have mountain trickle scenes from this autumn. It's a target rich venue and I wandered a much longer way up stream on my second trek with my normal-zoon lens. This creek provides a mass of captures. Boy, my earlier trip with eDDie up behind Allenspark to Rock Creek really paid off. So well in fact, I decided to return and avoid weekend campers. Our fall down here on the flats was slow to arrive and largely a bust. Here is another from my stash. 

I could get the bottoms of my feet really wet by wading across although scofflaws have downed several trees for crossings and setting up camps on the opposite side. One log bridge is up stream. This mountain stream is closer to a trickle and it's trout population might be a fantasy although I ought to try it out in a good holding pocket of water. I maneuvered to the right spot in order to compose this shot. I used my longer zoom last time I was in this particular spot. It looks like rocks in the stream are pretty fresh and have not had the time for mosses to make this much headway. I liked the tones in the shot. Although I was using the monopod, 1/10th of a second is a still dicey.

I found more action with my normal-zoom on this punk stream just escaping winter, assuming Colorado gets one this year. Careful where you step on the oncoming snow, try to follow the road in the bright clearing in the distance. It will be hard to tell the difference until too late. Egad, I have skied in a Colorado September before but this is a week into October. It's looking more like the year I fished up on James Creek in November and got caught one of my best German browns and one of my best experiences. Note that this might be a stand of lodgepole pines. Lodgepole forests have floors that are functional deserts. 

Autumn falls early up here. It can snow on any day of the year and has sometime in the past. It will always defy the Koch Brudders Mafia and their push to pocket anti-global warming presidential and congressional candidates. It will take some time for the populace to understand more people work for renewables than the fossil fool industry, sheesh. Reality is creeping up on them and their paid Republican candidate staff. True renewables will cost us less in the long run. Coal-fired plants must be continually fed while wind and solar production can be ignored. Fortunately, we finally got a pass from the Kochsters and sent some nasty storms to the midwest. Unfortunately, the midwesterners didn't handle them as graciously as the Camshaft after SB50. 

Actually, Rock Creek flows more directly down through Ferncliff instead of toward Allenspark. The road back to Allenspark follows the hillside while Ferncliff is downhill. There are a large number of possibilities up this creek (pronounced crick in the Rockies) and for me, it seemed like the one-legged man in the trouser factory syndrome. As I opened the captures, I know that I left shots behind no matter how I tried.
