Schloss Trakošćan / Trakošćan Castle

            Das im 13. Jahrhundert erbaute Schloss Trakošćan befindet sich auf dem Gebiet der Gemeinde Bednja in der Gespanschaft Varaždin im äußersten Norden Kroatiens, nahe der slowenischen Grenze. Vom Jahr 1584, als Maximilian II. dem Juraj Drašković von Trakošćan das Gut schenkte, bis zur Enteignung nach der kommunistischen Machtergreifung, war das Schloss im Besitz der Adelsfamilie Drašković. Heute ist das Schloss ein Museum und Ausflugsziel. Am Fuß des Schlosses befinden sich ein künstlich angelegter See (im August 2022 vorübergehend trockengelegt) und ein Park.Eine Wanderung um den See dauert etwa. 2–3 Stunden. Der fliegende Drache könnte eine Anspielung auf das Wappen der Familie Drašković  sein. Von drohender Gefahr durch eine fliegenden Drachen (wie auf diesem Bild sichtbar) ist mir nichts bekannt. 😛

Trakošćan Castle, built in the 13th century, is located on the territory of the municipality of Bednja in Varaždin County in the far north of Croatia, close to the Slovenian border. From 1584, when Maximilian II gave the estate to Juraj Drašković of Trakošćan, until its expropriation after the communist seizure of power, the castle was owned by the noble Drašković family. Today the castle is a museum and excursion destination. At the foot of the castle there is an artificial lake (temporarily drained in August 2022) and a park.a hike around the lake takes about. 2-3 hours. The flying dragon could be an allusion to the coat of arms of the Drašković family.  I'm not aware of any imminent danger from a flying dragon (as visible in this picture). 😛
