Territories - a photo on Flickriver

Territories

            A large buck steps out of the wood line, scrapes the ground with his hoof, and scent marks a overhanging tree limb. A sign to other bucks that he is in this area. Commonly known as a scrape, it was believed to be a way of a buck marking its territory for the rutting season, but I was just watching a show and the guy said, instead it was just letting other bucks know he's in the area and bucks really are more nomadic at this time of year and don't really claim territories.
