Бакла (тюрк. «фасоль») — название горы (471 м) в ряду куэст Внутренней гряды Крымских гор между Симферополем и Бахчисараем, а также самого северного из древних пещерных городов Крыма. С IV века н.э. и вплоть до нашествия золотоордынского хана Ногая в 1299 году Бакла была важным православным христианским центром с храмами, монастырями и известной на весь регион винодельней. Основу населения города составляли готы, что делало Баклу важным центром средневековой Крымской Готии. Сохранились свидетельства того, что в конце первого тысячелетия нашей эры Византия использовала этот город для обращения в христианство местных жителей. На территории города некоторое время размещался византийский военный гарнизон. Одним словом, Бакла — красивое, загадочное, археологически и духовно богатое место.

Bakla (Turkic for “pea”) is the name of a mountain (471 m) in the chain of the cuestas of the Middle Ridge of the Crimean Mountains between the cities of Simferopol and Bakhchysarai (Republic of Crimea, Russia) as well as that of Crimea’s northernmost cave town. From the IV century A.D. until the invasion by the Tatar-Mongol khan Nogai of the Golden Horde in 1299, Bakla was a prominent Orthodox Christian center with churches, monasteries, and a famous winery. There’s historic evidence that at the end of the 1st millennium A.D., Byzantium used this town to baptize the locals. For a period of time, a Byzantine military garrison was stationed there, too. Goths made up the majority of the population which made the town of Baqla an important center of the medieval Crimean Gothia. It is, to sum it up, a beautiful, enigmatic, archeologically rich and spiritually awesome place.
