I like the three versions equally. Each one enhances one of the things that attracts my attention of these ruins.

Las tres versiones me gustan por un igual. Cada una resalta una de las cosas que me llaman la atención de estas ruinas.

ENGLISH
The monastery of Santa Maria de Vallsanta is an old located cistercian feminine monastery near the locality of Guimerà, in the Catalan region of the Urgell.

The construction of the monastery began in 1235. The new monastery was destined to replace the one of Santa Maria of the Bovera. This one was in bad conditions by lack of water. The community, composed by twenty-three nuns, was transferred in 1249 having been his first abbess Agnès de Guimerà. In 1267 the construction already was finalized.

It received diverse donations, emphasizing the made one in 1272 by king Jaime I who financed great part of construction of the cloister. The community was active during centuries 14th and 15th. There are not news on the origin of the rents of the monastery nor if it received later donations on the part of the crown or the nobility. In 1348 the monastery was affected by a plague epidemic that decimated the community.

A new epidemic knocked down the monastery in 1403, being reduced to the mother abbess, a prioress mother, a verger and two sisters. In 1589 the monastery was in complete decay; it had only three nuns, it did not have abbess and the debts were accumulated. Francesc Oliver de Boteller, abbot of the monastery of Poblet and general visiter of the order of the Císter, ordered that the nuns were transferred to the monastery of Santa Maria of the Pedregal, located near Tàrrega, which gave aim to the active life in Vallsanta. After the abandonment of the religious activity the building was in ruins.

Today they are left some walls of the church visible. It is of gothic style, unique nave and had a length of 20.5 meters by 9.8 meters wide. One thinks that the construction was not finalized and that it lacked one of the walls. In addition, it lacked bell tower and dome. They are not left rest of cloister and some historians think that old cloister old of Santes Creus corresponds to cloister of Vallsanta. They do not exist, nevertheless, documents that credit it.

El monasterio de Santa Maria de Vallsanta es un antiguo cenobio femenino cisterciense situado cerca de la localidad de Guimerà, en la comarca catalana del Urgell.

La construcción del monasterio se inició en 1235. El nuevo monasterio estaba destinado a sustituir el de Santa Maria de la Bovera. que se encontraba en malas condiciones por falta de agua. La comunidad, compuesta por veintitrés monjas, se trasladó en 1249 siendo su primera abadesa Agnès de Guimerà. En 1267 la construcción estaba ya finalizada.

Recibió diversas donaciones, destacando la realizada en 1272 por el rey Jaime I que financió gran parte de las obras de construcción del claustro. La comunidad estuvo activa durante los siglos XIV y XV. No se tienen noticias sobre la procedencia de las rentas del monasterio ni si recibió donaciones posteriores por parte de la corona o la nobleza. En 1348 el monasterio se vio afectado por una epidemia de peste que diezmó la comunidad.

Una nueva epidemia asoló el monasterio en 1403, quedando reducida a la madre abadesa, una madre priora, una sacristana y dos hermanas. En 1589 el cenobio estaba en completa decadencia; contaba sólo con tres monjas, no disponía de abadesa y se acumulaban las deudas. Francesc Oliver de Boteller, abad del monasterio de Poblet y visitador general de la orden del Císter, ordenó entonces que las religiosas se trasladaran al monasterio de Santa Maria del Pedregal, localizado cerca de Tárrega, lo que dio fin a la vida activa en Vallsanta. Tras el abandono de la actividad religiosa el edificio quedó en ruinas.

Quedan visibles algunos muros de la iglesia. Es de estilo gótico, de nave única y tenía una longitud de 20,5 metros por 9,8 metros de ancho. Se cree que la construcción no quedó finalizada y que faltaba uno de los muros. Además, carecía de campanario y de cimborrio. No quedan restos del claustro y algunos historiadores creen que el claustro antiguo de Santes Creus corresponde al claustro de Vallsanta. No existen, sin embargo, documentos que lo acrediten.
