This is a species of flowering plant in the daisy family, Asteraceae. Common names for C. vialis include straggler daisy, horseherb, lawnflower, and creeping Cinderella-weed. It is native to the southern United States, Mexico, Belize, Venezuela, and the Caribbean. It has also been introduced to Argentina, Hawaii, India, Java, Australia, and Taiwan. It is one of only three species in the genus Calyptocarpus. It produces some beautiful yellow flowers resembling a daisy. 

Dit is een soort bloeiende plant uit de madeliefjesfamilie, Asteraceae. Veel voorkomende namen voor C. vialis zijn achtergebleven madeliefje, paardenkruid, gazonbloem en kruipend Assepoester-onkruid. Het komt oorspronkelijk uit de zuidelijke Verenigde Staten, Mexico, Belize, Venezuela en het Caribisch gebied. Het is ook geïntroduceerd in Argentinië, Hawaï, India, Java, Australië en Taiwan. Het is een van de slechts drie soorten van het geslacht Calyptocarpus. Het produceert een aantal prachtige gele bloemen die op een madeliefje lijken.

Esta erva é freqüentemente encontrada nas estradas e pradarias dos trópicos.No Bajio são usados ​​os nomes de garañona, manzanillo e tiricia; Fora desta área, são utilizadas capim distendido e equino (Rzedowski e Rzedowski, 2008), planta pertencente à família Asteraceae, da mesma forma que margaridas e girassóis. En el Bajío se usan los nombres de garañona, manzanillo y tiricia; fuera de ésta zona se usa distendida y hierba del caballo (Rzedowski y Rzedowski, 2008) Esta planta pertenece a la familia Asteraceae, la misma de las margaritas y del girasol.  En muchos países es tenida como invasora y la clasifican como praga.  Está muy presente en las calles y en todos sitios donde hay césped por esto también tiene el nombre de "hierba de caballo" especialmente en los Estados Unidos.
