Crocosmia Lucifer are abundant eye-catching, brillliantly red, tubular flowers appearing in midsummer atop bold, slightly arching, sparsely branched 3-foot-tall stems. Its mid-green leaves are pleated and swordlike. Crocosmia makes excellent cut flowers and attract hummingbirds. Thrives in a warm, south-facing location. Site near a wall where not reliably hardy. Apply a thick layer of mulch in winter. Plants also require well-drained soil. Lift and divide clumps in spring to maintain vigor.

Crocosmia Lucifer são abundantes, atraentes, brilhantemente vermelhas, flores tubulares aparecem no meio do verão em cima de caules de 3 pés de altura, ligeiramente arqueados e escassamente ramificados. Suas folhas verdes médias são pregueadas e semelhantes a espadas. Crocosmia fazem excelentes flores de corte e atraem beija-flores. Prospera em um local quente e virado ao sul. Crocosmia es un pequeño género de especies perennes y bulbosas de la familia de las iridáceas, nativas de los pastizales de la Provincia del Cabo en Sudáfrica. También se la encuentra en forma abundante a lo largo del Delta del Paraná, Tigre, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Existen actualmente unas 400 variedades de Crocosmias, cultivadas en todo el mundo. Gran parte de estas variedades provienen del híbrido interespecífico artificial entre Crocosmia aurea y C. potssii. Este híbrido, denominado Crocosmia x crocosmiflora ("Montbretia") fue obtenido por primera vez por Victor Lemoine en Francia en 1880. A partir de este cruzamiento se obtuvieron decenas de variedades. Crocosmia nombre genérico que deriva de las palabras griegas: "krokos": "azafrán" y "osme": "olor") alude al aroma a azafrán que desprenden sus flores cuando se las presiona.

Standplaats in de buurt van een muur waar niet betrouwbaar winterhard. Breng in de winter een dikke laag mulch aan. Planten hebben ook een goed doorlatende grond nodig. Til en verdeel bosjes in het voorjaar om de kracht te behouden.

Site près d'un mur où la robustesse n'est pas fiable. Appliquez une épaisse couche de paillis en hiver. Les plantes ont également besoin d'un sol bien drainé. Soulevez et divisez les touffes au printemps pour maintenir la vigueur.
