Leven Orange - a photo on Flickriver

Leven Orange

            I had hoped to get an overdue trip out with Iain this weekend but the wet weather put a damper on that.  I ended up in my 'archive' looking back at previous trips to Glencoe, specifically trying to compare some shots of Buachaille Etive Mor taken then with a couple I shot when out with Carol last week. I 'stumbled' over a series of pictures taken from close to Kinlochleven (at the eastern end of Loch Leven) which I had previously discounted, though I was always sure there was something in the series worth keeping.  I remember it being a long wait and bitterly cold as the sunset developed,  but the highlight was this cloud taking on a bright orange hue from the setting sun as it tracked over the 'Pap of Glencoe'.  I think it was always the original aspect I didn't like so have chosen a square format here which removed some of the foreground and 'dead space' whilst hopefully retaining the interest and colour on the water (smoothed somewhat by the 40sec exposure).
