Z52_3925 - Foulridge warehouse - a photo on Flickriver

            The wharf and warehouse were built in 1815. Cotton from America would be brought into to the North West via Liverpool docks. Canal barges from Liverpool would carry the cotton to Foulridge, where it was unloaded and stored in the warehouse, for redistribution to the local cotton mills.
At one time there was also a railway line here, with a railway bridge spanning the warehouse and canal. Foulridge railway station served the village of Foulridge. It was built by the Leeds and Bradford Extension Railway, (later absorbed by the Midland Railway) and opened on 2 October 1848. The station closed on 5 January 1959.
