2018 - Germany - Kaiserswerth - Naked Peasant

            This bronze sculpture by Fritz Klimsch (German sculptor, 1870-1960) resides in Kaiserswerth’s Klemensplatz.  When made in 1912 it was called “Naked Farmer”  or “Naked Peasant” and from 1955 on it was displayed in Elisen Park, Aachen.  

The sculpture was moved to Klemensplatz in 1986 when architect Walter Braune designed and built the fountain it sits in.  Today the sculpture is titled “The Sower”.

The sculptures idealized depiction corresponds to the contemporary tastes of the heroic in a man and his physical qualities, so they say.
