            Cascais's Parque Marechal Carmona (Marechal Carmona Park) is home to Museu Condes de Castro Guimarães.

This azulejo tile fountain panel has the date MCMXXV (1925). 

At the panel top is the Latin phrase “Deus nobis haec otia fecit” - “It was God who provided us with such delights”.

The panel, in a Mozarabic frame, represents the glorification of the Virgin Mary carried in a triumphal procession by the doctors of the church.

The panel is attributed to Bartolomeu Antunes and was probably removed from a Franciscan convent. 

Bartolomeu Antunes was a well-known Portuguese decorative artist born in 1688 into a family with a rich tradition in tile craftsmanship. 

His family’s heritage and connection to Portugal’s artistic heritage laid the foundation for his own journey in the world of Azulejo art.
