            Female Phidippus clarus jumping spider eating a long-legged Dolichopodid fly.

Single exposure, hand held, diffused flash.

Notes: This common species is found across southern Canada and most of the United States except the desert Southwest. This spider is found in old fields, prairies, agricultural crops, and other low herbaceous vegetation. The female constructs a conspicuous white retreat and egg case near the tops of plants (Edwards 2004). Female TBL 8-10 mm.
