RD20414. WD303 at Harbour Station. - a photo on Flickriver

            RD20414.  The 2ft gauge Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway's 2019 Gala Weekend was based on the Welsh Highland Railway with vintage trains running between Porthmadog (both Harbour Station and Tremadog Road Station), Pen-y-Mount, Pont Croesor and Beddgelert.  

The event was run in conjunction with the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway and it featured their original North Wales Narrow Gauge Railways 1906 vintage Hunslet 2-6-2T RUSSELL.  It worked a regular series of Pont Croesor – Beddgelert shuttles in top 'n' tail mode with the FR's George England 1863 vintage 0-4-0ST/T PRINCE.  

However, RUSSELL wasn't the only visitor to the gala and this is First World War veteran Hunslet 4-6-0T War Department Light Railways 303; it was built in 1916 to haul trains of troops and ammunition to the front line.  Here though, it is employed on more peaceful duties and is seen on arrival at Porthmadog Harbour Station having worked one of the shuttle trains between Porthmadog harbour Station and Pont Croesor.   The driver's correct WW1 army uniform is just visible.
