The 494 locomotives of the 742 Class were built between 1977 and 1986. They were designed for heavy shunting and local freight service and in addition to that work occasionally handle passenger runs as well. These Bo-Bo locomotives have 1184 horsepower.

Villa Grabovka is a former private estate that is now the home of the CEELI Institute, a Czech NGO spun-off from the American Bar Association's Central Europe and Eurasia Law Initiative (CEELI). The CEELI Institute serves as a focal point for rule-of-law training activities for stakeholders in the legal system of nations throughout Europe and Asia.

Villa Grabovka is owned by the City of Prague and leased to the CEELI Institute. It was restored by the Institute after a successful campaign to raise the necessary funds. The villa is the centerpiece of a lovely public park which overlooks, among other things, a mainline of Czech Railways (CD) as it passes through Prague-Vrsovice station. This photograph was taken with a Nikon D300 and 18-200mm lens, from the terrace of Villa Grabovka on a bright but cloudy day.

The location is perfect for trainspotting, though the tracks are approximately 600 meters from the terrace. Watching trains is from the terrace is very rewarding, and when the light is good and the photographer's technique spot-on, very pleasant photographs of trains are possible. This location, along with Pennsylvania's Horseshoe Curve and California's Tehachapi Pass, are my 3 favorite train-watching spots.
