La ligne de l'Arth-Rigi Bahn a été construite de 1871 à 1874, il a été inauguré le 4 juin 1875 à voie normale est à crémaillère Riggenbach, sa longueur et de 8,5 Kilomètres, sa déclivité est de 250°/%.
En 1992, la compagnie Arth-Rigi Bahn à fusionné avec la compagnie Vitznau-Rigi Bahn en une seule compagnie le chemin de fer du Rigi (Rigi-Bahnen RB).
