Model 101 - a photo on Flickriver

Model 101

            You'd never know it from my photostream, but I'm actually a huge sci-fi geek. :) Back when I was a kid the one action film that blew my mind like no other was Terminator 2. Jurassic Park was great too, but T2 remained my sentimental favorite.

Several years ago Seattle's Science Fiction Museum in the EMP had an amazing collection of Hollywood artifacts on display. They had all sorts of stuff: Imperial stormtroopers, R2-D2, the Death Star, Star Trek tricorders, a Klingon bat'leth, Borg, E.T. and even a perfect replica of Yoda. Among them was also the most intricately detailed life-size full metal model of the T800 Terminator. Unfortunately the presentation was pretty lousy; The lighting was poorly set up, bright yellow and had tons of reflections all over the glass case from a nearby constellation exhibit. After some trixy cleanup and re-toning I wanted to see if I could recreate the original film look as closely as possible and this is the result. Sadly the exhibit was deinstalled the following year.
