Clarkson Covered Bridge 9 - a photo on Flickriver

[A set of 13 photos] Clarkson Covered Bridge (aka Legg Bridge) near Cullman, Alabama was built 1922. It was a convenient crossing place for travelers and farmers over Crooked Creek. The wooden bridge is a lattice truss structure, 250-270 feet long (there is some disagreement on the length). The Clarkson Covered Bridge along with a dogtrot house (#10-#13 in the set) and gristmill was
restored by the Cullman County Commission in 1975. The dogtrot house, a southern house style, is basically two cabins connected by a breezeway extending the width of the structure; one side was for cooking and dining and the other for bedrooms. The site is called Clarkson Covered Bridge Park and has picnic tables and hiking trails. The bridge was named to the National Register of Historic Places June 25, 1974, #74000408.
