Les magots vivent dans des groupes où la hiérarchie est très stricte. Ainsi, les femelles sont organisées en matriarcat, où la mère va dominer la fille aînée, qui domine la fille cadette... Le mâle est dominant sur les femelles. Bien que très à l'aise au sol, les magots sont très agiles dans les arbres. Ils dorment en hauteur, dans des groupes de 2-3 individus. Le mâle est un très bon père, se chargeant de la protection de sa descendance !
