Papuan Frogmouth (Podargus papuensis)

            Often mistaken for owls, Frogmouths are actually Nightjars.  One notable difference is that they catch food with their beaks, not their feet.

Although they're named after Papua New Guinea, their native range actually includes the northeast tip of Australia.  Which makes sense since it's a surprisingly short distance from the tip of Australia to Papua New Guinea - only 150km between mainlands, not to mention the numerous islands dotted between them like stepping stones.
