DB Cargo 159 240-1 @ Braubach 🇩🇪

Op woensdag 31 mei was het eigenlijk de bedoeling om vanuit Brühl rechtstreeks naar het Moezeldal te gaan. Mijn broer Steven had daarvoor al een puntje uitgezocht, namelijk het zicht op Kobern-Gondorf vanuit de wijnbergen, maar tijdens het terugstappen naar de auto vroeg ik mijn broer of we niet eerst eens zouden proberen om naar Braubach te gaan.

We zouden daar zeker nog een dik uur goede zonnestand hebben en na controle leek Braubach niet eens ver van de puntjes te liggen die Steven voor de namiddag had voorzien.

Zo gezegd, zo gedaan... We parkeerden onze auto in het dorpje en begonnen aan onze wandeling/mars naar het fotopunt (je moet hier iets meer dan een kilometer stappen, dichterbij is er geen parkeerplaats). Onderweg naar de tunneltjes onder het spoor passeerden er ons natuurlijk twee treinen in de goede richting - eerst een goederentrein en daarna een overbrengingsrit van twee Desiro HC-stellen van DB.

Nou ja, er zou zeker wel nog iets anders volgen, dus al te veel zorgen maakten we ons niet.

En ja hoor, na de passage van de lokaaltrein richting Frankfurt Hbf hoorden we duidelijk een cargo naderen en het bleek nog een vette te zijn ook!

We left Brühl and headed southwards: not directly to the valley of the Mosel as initially planned but first of all to Braubach, where we would check a point we both had seen already many times on flickr and where one can get nice photos with the Marksburg in the background.

An we were lucky, because the first (and regrettably only) freight train we could get on photo at this location, was a great one!
