We both dressed for the event - a photo on Flickriver

Many didn't, or rather, dressed for a windy -15° evening. The inaugural show of the Garneau String Quartet; some musicians I've gotten to know. Virtuosos all; Laura Veeze here is a killer violinist as well as a hot mom-babe.

Brilliant show, too - difficult tunes for music geeks. Debussy's writing shows he was deranged - his String Quartet in G is like a poetically enacted car crash. Insane changes and boggling counterpoint abound. Their version of "The Raven" based on Poe's famed poem was another bit of emotional prodding; dark and weird.

I bought tickets for the rest of their season.

Nous nous sommes tous les deux habillés pour l'événement, même si beaucoup ne l'ont pas fait, ou plutôt, se sont habillés pour une soirée venteuse à -15°. Le spectacle inaugural du Quatuor à cordes Garneau; quelques musiciens que j'ai appris à connaître. Virtuoses tous; Laura Veeze ici est une violoniste tueuse ainsi qu'une maman belle.

Un spectacle brillant aussi - des airs difficiles pour les geeks de la musique. L'écriture de Debussy montre qu'il était dérangé - son Quatuor à cordes en sol est comme un accident de voiture mis en scène poétiquement. Les changements insensés et les contrepoints ahurissants abondent. Leur version de "The Raven" basée sur le célèbre poème de Poe était une autre incitation émotionnelle; sombre et bizarre.

J'ai acheté des billets pour le reste de leur saison.
