Chirpie Chippie - a photo on Flickriver

            The last couple years, I was beginning to wonder where these little puppies had gotten too.  Even this year, I had been to Springwater Conservation Area a few times, but, had neither seen nor heard them.  This week, on a sunny afternoon, after teaching, I went again, hoping to get some autumn colour, but, I think I was about a week early.  I did however hear the familiar warning chirps of these little guys.  Usually, they cease chirping as you get nearer, then you have to carefully examine the ground where you last heard them.  One little dude sat about 10 feet away from me just a chirping away.  This isn't him (or her-I dunno.  Hey, I'm a rocket surgeon, not a rodentologist.)  Anyhow, it did my heart good to hear them, and see them skittering about again, and getting a chance to shoot them.
