Het Korps Rijdende Artillerie, in de volksmond vaak beter bekend als de 'Gele Rijders', heeft sinds haar oprichting in 1793 altijd een opvallende plaats ingenomen binnen de Nederlandse krijgsmacht.

De Rijdende Artillerie werd op initiatief van stadhouder Willem V op 21 februari 1793 door de Staten-Generaal opgericht. Dit om de artillerie in staat te stellen om op het slagveld de paarden van de veel snellere cavalerie te kunnen volgen. De Gele Rijders werden in 1799 ingezet bij de Slag bij Bergen, waar zij met de Fransen de Engelsen en Russen versloegen. Prins Willem II schonk bij zijn inhuldiging tot koning in 1842 de Rijdende Artillerie een met gele tressen afgezet huzarenuniform, waardoor de naam Gele Rijders ontstond.

The Horse Artillery Corps, popularly often known as the 'Yellow Riders', since its inception in 1793, always occupied a prominent place in the Dutch armed forces.

The Horse Artillery was formed by the States General at the initiative of Governor William V on February 21, 1793. This is to enable the artillery to be able to follow the horses of the much faster cavalry on the battlefield. Yellow Riders were deployed in 1799 at the Battle of Mons, where they defeated the British and Russians with the French. Prince William II gave at his inauguration as king of the Horse Artillery in 1842 dropped a hussar uniform with yellow braid, creating the name Yellow Riders.
