Flooded Dutch polder at sunset - a photo on Flickriver

Backlight shot of the Noordwaard polder in the Brabantse Biesbosch at the end of a winter day. The Noordwaard was partly flooded, entirely according to plan, in order to lower the water level in the adjacent Nieuwe Merwede river as part of the Room for the River project. Rush plants still protrude above the water surface here and there. In the background on the right, a farm built on a terp contrasts against the orange colored sky.

Tegenlichtopname van de Noordwaard polder in de Brabantse Biesbosch aan het eind van een winterdag. De Noordwaard is, geheel volgens plan, deels overstroomd om, in het kader van het project Ruimte voor de Rivier, de waterstand in de aangrenzende Nieuwe Merwede rivier te verlagen. Pollen biezen steken hier en daar nog uit boven het wateroppervlak. Op de achtergrond rechts contrasteert een op een terp gebouwde boerderij tegen de oranje gekleurde hemel.
