Warren - John Oxley and Charles Sturt, two intrepid Australian explorers, were here on the Macquarie River banks in 1818 and 1828. New South Wales Australia

            John Oxley and company camped here in June 1818.
They named Mount Harris of which this rock is part.

In 1828 Charles Sturt and Hamilton Hume  passed near here while attempting to solve the puzzle of the 'inland sea'.
