In this Mediterranean summer, I am hidden behind a tree to observe this hoopoe pecking..

La huppe est exclusivement insectivore et ne se nourrit qu'au sol. Son bec long et courbe est un outil adapté au fouissage d'un sol meuble et capable de détecter à l'aveugle et au toucher les proies qui s'y trouvent.

The hoopoe is exclusively insectivorous and feeds only on the ground. Its long, curved beak is a tool suitable for digging in loose soil and capable of blindly detecting by touch the prey found there.
