Bundesgestüt Piber (A) - "Lipizzaner - Mahlzeit"

            Das Lipizzanergestüt Piber hat die Aufgabe, die älteste Kulturpferderasse Europas – die Lipizzaner – zu züchten, deren Ursprung in die imperiale Zeit, auf das Jahr 1580, zurückgeht. Das Herz der Lipizzanerzucht in Piber sind die Mutterstuten: Sie sichern den Nachwuchs und ihnen gilt hier ganz besondere Aufmerksamkeit. Heute werden jährlich rund 40 Fohlen in der Weststeiermark geboren – und zwar nicht mit ihrem berühmten weißen Haarkleid, sondern schwarz, grau oder braun. Erst in den nächsten vier bis zehn Jahren bekommen sie das typische Weiß, für das die Lipizzaner bekannt, beliebt und berühmt sind.
