The Desert Postman's Track - a photo on Flickriver

I am tempted to paint this view of the desert, à la John Olsen's Lake Eyre paintings and entitle it "People who live at Turkey Creek" as an abstract painting, or maybe "The Desert Postman's Track" as a artwork in the Realism genre for the postman's track can be seen skirting the ironstone red dunes and crossing the lake.
Any way, this is Our Outback Australia: Lake Ulenia & Yantara Lake on Turkey Creek, NSW. The complex and varied landscape of the desert is revealed in this aerial image.

This image tells some of the major stories of the Australian deserts, with the red ironstone and old red dunes oriented by dominant wind direction, the clay pans of the internal drainage basins, the periodic floods that course down the flood channels after flood rains far to the north, the salt crusts around the edges of the pan, and the lonely tracks that cross the varied terrain.
