Sarcophagus of Christopher Columbus - a photo on Flickriver

            An der Puerta de la Lonja befindet sich der Sarkophag des Christoph Kolumbus. Das Denkmal entstand 1902. Der Sarkophag wird von vier Herolden getragen, die für die Königreiche Kastilien, León, Aragón und Navarra stehen. Dies ist eine Symbolik dafür, dass auch die sterblichen Überreste von Kolumbus „gereist“ sind.

The sarcophagus of Christopher Columbus is located at the Puerta de la Lonja. The monument was created in 1902. The sarcophagus is carried by four heralds representing the kingdoms of Castile, León, Aragon and Navarre. This is symbolic of the fact that Columbus' remains also “traveled.”
