Painted Native Pea - Preston - a photo on Flickriver

            Sitting in a pool of sunlight, these Painted Native Peas were so eye catching with their vibrant orange, pink and yellow petals.

Painted Chorizema or Needle Leaved Chorizema, known commonly as the Painted Native Pea, is a native shrub from Western Australia growing west of a line from Geraldton on the west coast to Esperance on the south coast. With such a broad habitat which includes outcrops, undulating plains, ridges, coastal dunes and sometimes swampy areas, it is found in many places.  It is very popular as a garden plant because if its brightly coloured flowers.

Spring has finally come to Melbourne, and everywhere, gardens are bursting forth with beautiful coloured blooms in a profusion of colours after a wetter than usual winter.
