            This little Cardinal decoration--less than two inches from beak to tail end--is part of my wife's Christmas display, photographed for this week's Macro Mondays "Red" theme.

I've been off Flickr for a few days while I learn how to use a new camera, among other things. This is my first shot posted that was taken with the OM-1, a micro four-thirds camera from OM Systems (previously Olympus). 

Though the M43 sensor is smaller than the APS-C and full frame sensors in my Nikon cameras, the OM-1 camera and lenses are significantly smaller and lighter to carry around. And it has some interesting computational features. This shot is a 15-shot focus stack that was created entirely in-camera, for example. 

It's been a bit of a steep learning curve so far, so I may be on and off Flickr more often than usual as I figure things out, and as holiday activities take hold as well. I'll be continuing to use my Nikon cameras as well as the new OM-1.
