08.18.21. La Chapelle russe de Darbon à Publier en Haute-Savoie

            Nichée sur les hauteurs de la commune, la chapelle de Darbon est unique en son genre dans le Chablais (France). Cet édifice orthodoxe ne ressemble que de loin aux chapelles traditionnelles de nos campagnes. Représentatif de l’art byzantin, la chapelle se distingue par l’incroyable richesse de ses façades entièrement colorées de fresques. Le petit bâtiment avec son bulbe en cuivre a été construit dans les années 1960 à côté de la colonie de vacances de Darbon qui accueillait des jeunes pensionnaires de la diaspora russe.

Nestled high above the village, the Darbon chapel is unique in the Chablais region (France). This Orthodox building bears little resemblance to traditional country chapels. Representative of Byzantine art, the chapel stands out for the incredible richness of its frescoed facades. The small building with its copper bulb was built in the 1960s next to the Darbon summer camp for young boarders from the Russian diaspora.
