Darn Right cold

            A photo from inside the Ludington Scale house has been on my to do list for quite some time and on a bitter cold Saturday night I made it happen after several attempts. On Saturday nights the Ludington Eagle job comes on duty and makes several moves to and from Occidental Chemical Company which gave me a couple chances at this. When I arrived it took a while to figure out how I want to get my flashes set up and line up the very tight photo. Once that was set it was time to start scraping the Ice off the windows and had to do it three times as the evening went on the windows kept icing up from my breath but all the effort worked out. 

Inside the now out of service scale house you'll find this very old Fairbanks M400 scale in great shape just going unused and unwanted. When I first started on the railroad we were trained on how to weigh cars on the scale one at a time by moving the weights manually until the scale centered out. In the last 6 years the scale was used less than a handful of times and is no longer certified.
