2006-06-10 Grass and Church 2

Macro shot of grass with St Giles Church, near Calke Abbey, in the background. The abbey is between between Staunton Harold and Foremark Reservoirs, Derbyshire and lies on the site of a priory dissolved by Henry VIII, and lies adjascent to the corners of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.

The church has unusual status as a 'peculiar' outside the normal diocesan organisation, perhaps perhaps due to Calke's monastic origins.

Recently featured in the 2010 BBC series 'Survivors'.

Taken on a walk with the NTU Chaplaincy with a Pentax Optio S.
