West Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. - a photo on Flickriver

            Nearly destroyed by ribbon development in the 1930's, the whole village is now owned by the National Trust.  Until bypassed by the M40 in the 1970's, all the A40 London-Oxford traffic thundered through it.   Although relatively peaceful nowadays, it is near-impossible to photograph, as parked cars spoil the view above (taken in 1971) 24/7.

Why oh why cannot the National Trust ban parking in the main street, at least on the North side?  Inconvenient perhaps for a dozen or so residents, but it would enable everyone else in the World to enjoy this national treasure.
